Laura Sawyer — Motography’s Gallery of Picture Players (1912) 🇺🇸
Laura Sawyer has made friends galore, in the many roles she has taken in Edison films. Her strong personality “gets across,” whether seen in drama or comedy.
Though she plays both equally well, she is inclined to favor the drama as the term “emotional actress” is which she especially likes to claim and one which fits her eery particularly. The art of facial expression is hers and its subtle varyings, as caught by the camera, makes any work she does complete.
Truth and realism are the beacons which have led Miss Sawyer onward and upward and the three form a convincing trio that make for the success of both film and company.
Early theatrical experiences paved the way for Miss Sawyers success as a screen artist. She was with Ada Rehan and she spent several years in the companies of Otis Skinner.
“The Battle of Trafalgar” and “The Question Mark” are among her film successes.
