Charles Clary — Motography’s Gallery of Picture Players (1912) 🇺🇸
Charles Clary is a much-experienced motion picture actor. The Chicago Selig Polyscope Company, for which he plays leads, is responsible for the assertion and Mr. Clary says so himself.
He has played stock on the legitimate stage in Portland. Ore., achieved New York and the Shuberts and roles with Mary Mannering and Mrs. Leslie Carter. Then the motion picture field, in the way of a Selig contract, beckoned him Chicago-ward and here he has been for two years.
According to his own statement he has “stripped to a gee string playing Osceola in ‘Witch of the Everglades,’ swam in the gulf of Mexico” and “waded Florida swamps in civil war pictures.”
That was just the beginning, but it and all the other roles Mr. Clary has taken have been enjoyable work for him and hours of entertainment for film gazers.
The out-of-door exercise appeals to Mr. Clary and this puts legitimate stage work “out of it.”
